New 1958 Corvette Restomod

We recently asked you to send us some stories of their car and we had more than our published articles and Dave Semel responded with this story about building his beautiful 1958 Corvette Restomod.

Corvette sits in a field in Alabama for 20 plus years. During this period, rusty and a new front clip should be added. It was a perfect candidate for restomod project because many of the fiberglass work was necessary. A large fiberglass work is needed to the original 1958 Corvette body to adjust to achieve a modern chassis. The original Corvette was owned by a man who was 25 years ago, the sewing machine Vette. He later sold to his nephew, who left the area for 20 years. I was looking for 1958 Corvette project, and he is the ideal candidate.

I used a 2000 C5 Corvette donor car chassis, custom frame was built to all C5 and rear suspension to meet. The idea was that the Vette looks like a sleeper, one that originally appeared. Hooded people just think it would change color and give the new ZO6 wheels. My thought was that the interior looks original but adds modern amenities found in newer Vettese, but still resemble the original.

I also like the exhaust off a new Corvette instead of the bumper. The holes in the bumper, brake lights are now functioning as an indicator. Original meters are also used to working with the finished box and converts it into electricity for the new LS2 engine. Vette just 58REDUX (meaning the transformation of GM from 1958 Corvette, where all the technology, so it is what it would do).
Here is my experience with my 1958 Corvette "Restomod" said 58REDUX

I've always been a fan of the Corvette since I was very young. I knew one day I will own a sports car in America. When I started looking at it now I have a problem to decide if I should get a new ZO6 or had ... I had until 1958 Corvette. Classic lines of the '58 Corvette sticks in my head. So when I first saw restomod more than 4 years, I knew I would do such a thing.

Participate restomod do what you really need to plan what you want in the finished product. Decide whether you will be able to do the work yourself or you need someone to help? After considering the idea, I decided that I wanted restomod '58 Corvette look like a sleeper.

Jerry Smith, owner, Rusty Smith, Meredith, Toby and Daniel Smith in South Street rods and Corvettes in Ft Pierce, FL, is a company I worked with because they were willing to be a part of my thoughts about the place to be.
As you can see is to provide a new front clip on the body. To a newer Corvette chassis to fit the body, many of the cuts should be made of fiberglass and polyester hours repairs were required. Jonny Cano owns SMC Innovations Inc. undertook this difficult task.
After the chassis is ready, it's time to decide what kind of ride you are looking to reach the end of the year. The driver, a car show or something in between, which in turn will reduce the amount of time, money and expertise needed by the body to be determined. Here is my restomod, I decided I wanted a Corvette, which could be managed for recreation, but the look of the car show.
Finally, it is time for them all together along Restomod've planned. Even with all plans must be flexible and not easily discouraged. It always happens that some things can not be resolved, or if it is necessary to identify the components so the end result you want to produce. Try changing the schedule here ... You will not regret because it will cost you much more than just time!
Of course you need to decide what you're looking for with the interior. I decided that modern dark blue carpeting and air conditioning, power windows, locks and an AM / FM radio, the radio seemed original, but also built a 12 CD player. Remember that the options are as many, so this part of the plan and fun!

Then on one day, it's done! Or is it?

In my Corvette for a few months, I decided that a few things I wanted to change or add so that the Corvette really could with some of the best cars out there to compete. With resto mods there are things you might want to change or a better driving experience. I decided that Tony and Mike Hacker Stanz Back-In-Time in Bethlehem, PA for a few details about the case on my restomod conclusion.

I am very glad that I decided to build Restomod. My 53 year old car looks like an old muscle car with the technology and performance of a brand new Corvette. Performance is great and makes it a pleasure 58REDUX on the road.
