Audi A8 L Security

2012 audi a8 l security front angle view 2012 Audi A8 L Security

Audi A8 offers BRVs or Bullet Resistant Vehicles with W12-powered 2011 A8 L Security. It is setting to go on sale in late summer, this…panzer on wheels will also be available with another, as of yet unspecified powerplant, starting from 2012.

2012 A8 L Security is powered by a 6.3-liter W12 engine, which churns out 500HP and 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) of peak torque. Despite the added weight, the direct-injected naturally aspirated unit is capable of propelling the vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a very respectable 7.3 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 210 km/h (131 mph). Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and the company’s trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

With its projected average consumption of 13.5 lt/100 km (17.4 US mpg), the armored luxo-barge needs 3 liters of gasoline less than then the previous 450HP model. Furthermore, the second engine is said to further reduce consumption to 10-11 lt/100 km (23.5-21.4 US mpg), which could point to a diesel powerplant.

To better cope with the extra weight, the chassis, brakes and electronic control systems have been revised, while the 19-inch forged wheels are shod in high load index tires that allow the vehicle to continue traveling at speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) even if tire pressure is lost.

2012 Audi A8 L Security has 5.27 meters (208 inches) long sedan is almost identical to the standard A8, but looks are definitely deceiving as the Security is said to comply with the strictest standards in ballistic protection and can even withstand an explosion and still offer adequate protection for its passengers.

The car armored sedan is built in roughly 450 hours in a special facility at the Neckarsulm plant in Germany, where the use of cell phones is prohibited in order to prevent any technology leaks.

There Audi Space Frame (ASF) aluminum body, which holds a safety cell built using extremely tough materials, such as hot-formed armored steel, aramide fabric, ceramics, special alloyed aluminum and multilayer glass. Many of these overlap at the joints for added protection. The safety cell alone weighs 720 kg (1,587 pounds), but engineers didn’t stop there.

Inside the side sills have also been reinforced, complemented by the armored floor, 300 kilograms (661 lbs) of special glass with polycarbonate coating and strengthened doors that weigh an additional 360 kg (794 lbs). There also the optional emergency exit system, built-in fire extinguisher system and smoke extractor can provide additional protection.

In addition, Audi A8 L Security offers the same levels of quality and comfort as any 2011 Audi A8 and can be equipped with a bevy of high-tech optional features, ranging from the state-of-the-art Bose sound system to the fast UMTS Internet connection module.

Audi To Make First Appearance at SEMA

The (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada is just around the corner

Every year tuners and manufacturers meet to show of their latest and greatest (and sometimes wackiest) custom creations. This a premier place for aftermarket products and tuners to debut their wares.

Manufacturers are in on the game too with companies such as General Motors and Ford consistently making big appearances.

Audi has never attended the show previously. However, with the brand’s footprint in the United States growing, this year is different.

Audi’s presence at the show will center around three things: the aftermarket, with new “Audi After Sales products and technology,” a demonstration of the Audi Autonomous TTS Pikes Peak and a custom Audi R8 Spyder by STaSIS Engineering.

We think it is great that Audi is making an appearance, and it only serves to demonstrate how the brand expanding into new areas.

We look forward to seeing what is in store for Audi at the SEMA show. Stay tuned! (pun intended)

Audi Reportedly Says No To RS Model SUVs,

Let’s see: Audi TT-RS and RS5 heading to the United States, S7 and RS7 Sportback in the works, R8 GT and the possible (make that likely) production of the Quattro Concept.

Those are a few of the Audi performance products we’ve seen recently. With that list, is there any Audi performance project they will say no to? Apparently, yes – if it has to do RS SUV or crossover models.

BMW held out on this issue for quite some time, never affixing its M badging onto a SUV or crossover until the X5 M and X6 M. Audi’s RS badging is reserved for the upper crust of its performance lineup, taking it even further than S-Line or S.

The report comes from Autoblog.it who says the policy at Audi, set by technical chief Stephan Reil, is that its crossover models will not wear the RS badge.

This has to do with the decision that these large and inherently non-performance vehicles will never offer true performance. Apparently Porsche, which is now under the same roof, didn’t get the memo with the Cayenne.

Normally we would think it could have something to do with the desire to eliminate competition between Audi and Porsche. Given the recent approvals of performance models at Audi though (such as the R8 GT) we would have to rule that out.

If true, do you think Audi has made the right decision on this? Will an SUV or crossover ever be fun to drive? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

New Audi RS3 Sportback Debuts

340 horsepower turbocharged engine. Four wheel drive. 7-speed twin clutch automated manual gearbox. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, and a top speed of 155 miles an hour, electronically limited. They sound like the specifications of some exotic low slung sports car, don’t they? How about all of those things in a practical five-door hatchback?

Meet the Audi RS3 Sportback, the latest and greatest car from Audi’s RS division. It slots into the model line above the already-rapid S3 Sportback, and it’s – to put it plainly – the fastest hot hatchback the world has ever seen. Sure, Ford’s Focus RS500 has more power – 345bhp – but it’s not as rapid, owing to the limited traction of front wheel drive and having to shift your own gears.

The powertrain is shared with the Audi TT-RS, which is on the same chassis as the A3 (hard to believe, since they don’t look alike, but the TT has always been based on the Golf platform.) The engine is a 2.5L inline-five cylinder, with an iron block and aluminum head. Direct injection allows a high 10.0:1 compression ratio, and combined with a Borg-Warner turbocharger pushing 17psi into the engine, the little five puts out a lot of power: 340 horsepower (250kW) and 331lb-ft (450nM) of torque all the way from 1,600-5,300rpm. Despite the prodigious power and mid-range torque, the TT-RS will average 25.85 US MPG, surprisingly good for a hatchback that could outrun a Ferrari Testarossa.

Power is transmitted through VAG’s new 7-speed twin-clutch DSG unit to all four wheels via a Haldex AWD system. The DSG (now called S-Tronic, but I like DSG better) has a Drive and Sport mode for automatic function, as well as a manual mode and a likely violent launch control, which one assumes is how they attained that crazy 0-60 time. Besides the power, Audi has upgraded the RS3′s chassis so the handling matches the acceleration.

Front track width is wider, and the RS3 sits an inch lower to the ground than a regular A3 model. Front suspension is still MacPherson struts, and the rear is a four-link independent setup. Braking is handled by 4-piston 370mm internally vented discs up front, and 310mm 2-piston internally vented discs at back. Like all modern Audis, there’s an ESP mode with a “sport” function for increased slip angles before the system intervenes, which should be nice – VAG’s stability control systems have traditionally been pretty aggressive.

On the outside, the RS3 gets the RS appearance, with gaping air intakes on the lower bumper with an anthracite frame, Xenon headlights with LED running lamps, and a single-frame grille. The RS3 gets the same 5-spoke turbine-shaped 19″ alloy wheels as the TT-RS, and the flared out fenders bring back memories of the bonkers old V8 twin-turbo RS6. I’ve never liked the chrome mirror caps, but they’re an Audi S/RS styling cue so they’re present here, while out back a spoiler tops the hatch above, while two chunky exhaust pipes poke out of the black diffuser like shotgun barrells. All-in-all, it’s a subtlety aggressive package, and only those in the know are going to notice it’s something more than a run-of-the-mill A3. Which can’t exactly be said of the matte-black Focus RS500 with it’s gaping front-mounted intercooler, black wheels, huge wing, and booming exhaust.

There aren’t any pictures of the interior yet, but the press release states it hasn’t been ignored either. The RS3 gets standard sport seats with optional “bucket seats” (probably Recaros?), there’s silver contrast stitching, RS3 logos scattered here and there, interior inserts in either piano black (yes!) or aluminum (again?), and a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. In other words, it’s been spruced up to remind you you’re not in the 150 horsepower A3 2.0 TDI. Also, the driver information center (in between the speedometer and tach) will display boost pressure and oil temperature as well as lap times in addition to it’s other information – a nice touch.

Now, there’s good news and bad news. The good news: the RS3 Sportback will being going on sale in early 2011. The bad news: it’s priced at €49,900, which is $68,000 and change converted into US dollars. More bad news: it’s extremely unlikely this car will ever see the light of day here in America. Considering Audi had to be convinced via a petition to bring the TT-RS here, it seems unlikely they’re interested in selling the same powertrain in a hatchback like the A3, which has been a very slow seller in the US. A shame, to put it lightly. Still, to our European friends – if you want the fastest hot hatchback ever to hit the street, now’s your chance!

For The Racer Within:new fast Audi TT GT4

When I was little, I wanted to be a race car driver. I was unaware that A) the best way to make a small fortune racing is to start with a big one, B) I’m way too big, and C) I should’ve started dominating kart racing while I was still in the womb. Thankfully, companies out there feel our pain and offer race-oriented versions of their street cars to customers with a big enough bank account. While I may not ever be a famous race driver, I may one day be rich enough to afford something like the new TT GT4.

Revealed today at the Shanghai Grand Prix race, the TT GT4 is intended for private sale and use in the GT4 racing class. It started life as a top-of-the-line TT-RS model, but has received a working over to make it trackworthy. The engine isn’t any stronger than the stock one; which is okay, when you’ve got a direct-injected 2.5L inline-five turbo under the hood with a wailing 340 horsepower. The UrQuattro wannabe motor is hooked up to an Audi S-Tronic (DSG) 7-speed twin clutch automated manual transmission, and the GT4 is equipped with a center differential lock.

Most of the modifications center around making the car lighter, safer, and up to track spec as it’s already got enough power to send you into orbit. The press release is pretty scant, but you can tell from the pictures that the TT GT4 is treated to some absolutely massive brakes, which are covered by lightweight 18×9.5″ alloy wheels with race slicks.

The body is similar to the TT-RS – the front and rear apron and the rear wing are from the RS, while the hood, doors, and trunk lid are rendered in CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced plastic) and the windows are Lexan for lighter weight. The front end is covered in louvres and ventilation slots to direct air where it needs to go, with the happy side effect of making the TT look quite mean. The suspension is fully adjustable as well.

Inside, most of the interior has been removed – you don’t need carpet in a race car – and there’s a stout-looking roll cage inside. Fuel is stored in a race-approved fuel cell, too.

The GT4 will sell for an expected €120,000 ($157,000 after conversion!) which is pretty expensive for a TT, but pretty cheap for a ready-to-rock road course race car. It’s also a good chunk cheaper than the R8 GT turn-key race car, as well. Maybe my dream of race car driver is farther off than I originally thought. Guess I’ll stick to writing!

New Audi Breaks Sales Record

Audi sets new record levels and passes a number of important milestones in recent years. global brand has grown steadily year. Despite the tough economy, the Audi crossed the one million sales worldwide for the first time in 2008.
Since then accelerated growth, and the brand announced last year that more than two million Audi sold in the U.S. since he came on the market 40 years ago.
Now a new milestone in Audi aims to become the world's largest automaker has disappeared - more than 100,000 sales in the U.S. for the first time. No doubt that the pace following two million Audi is much faster.

101,629 figure is correct, breaking the previous mark a record 93,506 units in 2007 set a total of 23 percent year-on-year.
It is still room for luxury suites U.S., but Audi has previously minor player in the U.S. luxury arena. This is clearly changing, and it's something we welcome. Worldwide, the United States is considered the fourth biggest market for Audi UK, China and Germany.

Audi expects the growth to continue in 2011 with a strong economy and new models like the A8, A7 Sportback and the redesigned A6.

New Audi A1 to receive Quattro AWD

Audi A1 subcompact is a nice car. It's nice on the whole German Mini / Fiat 500 segment - small but full of aluminum, steel and Vorschprung durch Technik. You can even with the powerful 180 hp engine 1.4TSI. But until now, was one thing missing was surprising four-wheel drive.
Since the Audi brand's reputation is based on four wheels, that is a stranger to monitor their side. It is therefore not surprising that it would work quickly to this lack of grip Quattro problems. Audi announced today that it is working on a 4WD version of the A1, and suddenly over-priced subcompact will not make sense.

A1 Quattro system is similar to the system used on the A3 and TT - Audi other transverse engine cars. Produced by label use Haldex electronically controlled wet multi-plate clutch to the rear axle to distribute torque as the front wheels begin to slip. Although this system is not as reactive as auditors 4WD rear differential with an active (as in the longitudinal car engine) is what works in relation to the limitations of small packages A1 chassis.
Audi A1 Quattro says it is currently under development in Montreal in the winter of despair, the cold weather testing. They have not released any details on what engines will be available with Quattro A1, but my best guess would be that the choice for its top-of-the-line gas and diesel engines - that is, 122bhp and 178bhp and 1.4TSI 1.6 TDI engine.

Audi has no details on pricing only these two pictures of an orange-colored prototype. If A1 Quattro goes on sale in the near future, it will mean that every model in the lineup has Audi quattro AWD as standard or optional. I am glad that some brands still stick to their property! Until then, let's go through our fingers and hope that the Audi A1, send some our way.

New Detroit 2011: Audi A6/Hybrid Debut

It is an anomaly. Audi A6 electricity is older than dirt in the middle of luxobarge standards, but also continues to win comparison tests. It's probably something to do with the monster under the hood: the Audi 3.0T engine all seem boring name (which has a turbocharger, for some reason) and in combination with Quattro AWD love, it is hard to beat combo.

However, the current A6 debuted in 2004, which means it is older than any other competitor in the market. So now it seems the right time for the debut of the new Audi A6, and she wisely decided to change the formula too much. Styling follows the acclaimed new A8 sedan, the new A4 is a mix of flavors. It is clearly recognizable as Audi, from funky LED lights - Billy Bass bouncer network. Attractive in a conservative manner. Hey, it's easier to see than the 5-series! Audi will start falling into the same pattern was followed by BMW years, as some journalists have called you can look at new ways A6 "sausages of various lengths." A4 bigger, smaller, A8, A7 Sportback with the tribe ...
Regardless of Audi mechanical details are more interesting than the design. The new A6 is focused on improving performance and efficiency of the old model. On the performance front, it looks like the Audi A6, Jaguar XJ has been made since the beginning of 2000 are aluminum-intensive construction. 20% of the new A6 is made of aluminum, including fenders, hood, neck, trunk and shot Sleeper, and almost all parts of the suspension. It is useful to the size and weight of the old and the new A6 compare the benefit show.
2010 A6 2.0 TDI 2012 A6 2.0 TDI
Length 193.5 193.7
Wheelbase: 114.6 114.6
Width 73.8 73.6
Height 57.3 57.5
Curb 3638 3472

150 lbs weight the same model with the same dimensions and leadership is not something you see very often these days in the car and Audi glory focus on "small amount" instead of "more weight".

What about motorcycles? In typical Audi fashion, the new A6 will be launched with a full load of engine options, with different wings. A total of 5 engine options from the start, with two gas and three diesel engines. The base engine is a 2.8L V6 with direct fuel injection, 204bhp (from 190 above) and 207 lb-ft of torque. The Multitronic CVT, it will do 0-100 km / h in 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 240 km / h (149mph.) Fuel consumption is also down. Top of the pile of gasoline (still) is now known as "3.0T" engine. Now, even proud 300bhp and 325 pounds-feet. A6 3.0T (Quattro, which is standard) is 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and is limited to 155 km / h as usual.
There are three diesel engines with four cylinders and two V6. 2.0TDI been updated and now offers 177 hp and 280 pounds feet of torque. The six-speed manual, 2.0 TDI A6 to move to 60 in 8.7 seconds, and even 141 mph flat-out, and return 48mpg combined EU cycle. There is a choice between two 3.0-liter V6 TDI engines. Less than two just 204bhp and 295 pounds-feet, consisting of 1900-1960 to 7.2 with CVT and 149 km / h. The most powerful diesel is the same 3.0-liter V6, 245 hp revised (as opposed to 240 in the previous model), and 369 pounds feet of torque. This is pretty close to the settlements 3.0T acceleration, with 0-60 times 6.1sa honest 155 mph limit, but still an average of 38 mpg in the EU compared with 3.0T's thirsty 26.7 mpg combined.

There are three different gearboxes and drive two different tools available on the new A6, confusingly. You have a choice of front wheel drive or quattro 4WD, a smart new crown-gear center differential, which first appeared in RS5 used. Audi active rear LSD is also available on some models. Transmissions include a six-speed manual, Multitronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), and 7-speed S-Tronic 2.0TDI database is only available with front-wheel drive, combined with either 6 (dual clutch automated manual gearbox.) - Manual or CVT. 2.8FSI with FWD is possible with manual or CVT same as the 2.0 TDI, while the 2.8 FSI Quattro gets 7-speed automatic S tronic. 204bhp 3.0 TDI is available with manual and FWD or S-Tronic gearbox and AWD. Finally, as the 245bhp 3.0 TDI and 300bhp 3.0TFSI comes with quattro S-Tronic gearbox as standard. Wow - Audi knows how a confusing lineup to make.
As if that were not enough c0nfusing, shortly after the A6, Audi A6 start selling hybrid. Service 2.0TFSI with gas turbo I4, 8-speed automatic gearbox, but with a 33 kW (45hp) electric motor to the torque converter replaced. Fed is a small lithium-ion battery in the trunk, "said Audi A6 V6 Hybrid delivers performance with fuel economy four-cylinder engine. And they were right on the money, not a hybrid A6 Avant 0-100 km / h in 7.3 second, peaking at 149 km / h, compared with 2.8FSI '7 DC, but 7 seconds and 149, the A6 delivers 37.9mpg hybrid with the EU, compared to 31.7 for 2.8FSI. Which begs the question on who would buy a 2.8 in the case of the hybrid price premium is too high? A6 is a parallel hybrid, meaning it can run on gas, electricity or both. electric mode can run at speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour, but only run on electricity, about 3 km. It still seems like a good option if you do not want diesel, FWD, but it just makes it less compelling to the market.
Audi, the interior is a pleasant place to spend your time. There are plenty of luxury and comfort, the potential list of epic levels would increase. For your ass, 18-way adjustable comfort seats with heating, air-conditioning, massage function. Or are sports seats with adjustable thigh bolsters and larger hull pillows are also a possibility. You can kiss your "micro metallic" to leave (what?), Aluminum, or three different types of wood. Revised MMI system is linked to either 6.5 "or 8" color monitor mounted in the dashboard, which combines a wide range of controls - HVAC, audio, etc. There are also options for 7, "Driver Information System (CIS ) display located between the speedometer and accelerometer attached to the wheel. It shows the type of trip computer information and advice and information to be managed effectively. (This sounds remarkably like the Prius.) A6 Everyone gets a standard dual-zone climate control, new opportunities and A6 is expected to heads-up display on the windscreen.
